IPS' BESS systems milestone

Efficient and reliable Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are key components for grid-scale and renewable applications.
Their reliability is paramount, particularly in harsh environmental conditions such as those found in the Middle East, where temperatures soar to 58°C (in shade).

We are delighted to announce that the inaugural gas wells powered by renewables and BESS, implemented in Saudi Aramco (by IPS in cooperation with SNC-Lavalin), have closed their fifth year of operation with zero down time or system failure. In addition to delivering uninterrupted, 24/7 power and storage without the need for backup generators, our EXERON BESS systems have mitigated approximately 124,000 tons of CO₂ emissions.

Over the past eight years, we have successfully deployed 186 renewable and BESS installations (total BESS capacity 42 MWh), aligning with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's national decarbonization objectives. To date, our IPS' EXERON systems have reduced 182,000 tons CO₂ emissions for Saudi Aramco alone, thanks to renewable sources and our innovative passive shelters, non-compressor based cooling system, along with efficient BESS solutions.

Our passion has always revolved around technology. We believe that reliable and efficient technology is the result of ongoing research and development, driven by talent and unwavering commitment. With 34 years of experience in science and engineering, we are dedicated to pushing the boundaries of innovation.

We extend our sincere appreciation to aramco and especially the following departments: PSRD, PMT, Maintenance, Operations, Unconventional Resources, CSD for their trust and forward-thinking collaboration in advancing the decarbonization targets within the Oil & Gas industry.
